Skimo race season wrapped up with the final Utah Skimo Tuesday race at Brighton on March 11th. It was great to complete the entire course without headlamps thanks to daylight savings time!

Looking ahead to spring we, have our season awards in conjunction with the freeride team scheduled for April 22nd on the Tram Deck at Snowbird. Mark your calendars and we hope to see all of our Skimo athletes there.

Moving into the summer and next season we will have several summer team training hikes planned on weekends in July and August. Stay tuned for dates and destinations. In other news, we have received tentative approval from Snowbird for Skimo training in Gad Valley area before the resort opens on weekends starting next season. This will be a game changer as it will significantly expand the terrain options and vertical available to us. Stay tuned for changes and updates to program offerings to take advantage of this opportunity.

Skimo athlete spotlight: Tucker M

This month’s Skimo athlete spotlight is Tucker M. Tucker is a second-year Skimo athlete. In addition, Skimo Tucker races mountain bikes in the summer and alpine skis in Big Cottonwood almost every weekend during the winter. He also previously trained in Freeride with the Solitude team. Tucker always brings a good attitude to training and has raced in almost every Utah Skimo Tuesday race this season. He has consistently been working hard at training and getting faster and stronger throughout the season. We’re looking forward to seeing Tucker’s fitness and skill continue to grow in future seasons.
