We’ve had record participation in our summer conditioning programs with approximately 15-20% of our U19s consistently attending strength training and similar numbers of U15s attending weekly hikes. It’s great to see so many athletes motivated to put in the work to prepare for a successful season.

Strength training on Monday and Friday afternoons continues through the fall for the U19s. Beginning with the team welcome-back BBQ on September 3rd, the U19s will have a third field workout day at Sugarhouse Park on Thursday afternoons.

The U15 summer hike series wraps up on August 12th with a 10-mile round-trip hike to the summit of the Pfeifferhorn. After the final hike, the U15s will take a few weeks off before fall dryland begins on September 3rd with hikes/mountain bike rides on Tuesdays, strength training on Wednesdays, and field workouts/games on Thursdays.

Summer Woodward training wraps up on August 26th. Our summer Woodward program was successful, with all the athletes who participated gaining body awareness, inline skate skills, and confidence in the air in addition to expanding their bag of tricks. At the request of our athletes, we have added a fall Woodward training program. U15 fall Woodward training will take place on Friday afternoons beginning September 11th. U19 fall Woodward training will be on Wednesday afternoons beginning September 9th. Athletes can register for the fall Woodward programs HERE

Join us in welcoming Drew Stefanic and Turner Barbour to the SBSEF Freeride coaching staff. Drew grew up alpine racing and was previously an alpine coach. He is currently an avid freeskier in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Turner competed in freeride as a junior athlete, is currently an FWQ athlete, and coached freeride for Team Solitude last season. Both Drew and Turner will be coaching our U15 team this season.
