Snowboard September Update
Athletes are busy with summer dryland training and getting ready for a busy season. Some teams have had some activity (see below) and the rest of us are waiting for cold temps and hopefully more snow this season than last!
Any new athletes can attend the upcoming new athlete orientation at 5:30 pm on September 14th at the Whitmore Library. That will answer any questions you may have. We will have returning team orientations so watch the calendar for those.

Big Mountain Team
The big mountain team is back and patiently waiting. With the addition of Woodward days this upcoming season, we are looking forward to upping the level of freestyle we can bring to the world of freeride snowboarding. In addition, we intend to swap our focus to more aggressive top to bottom mountain runs at the bird. Shout out to Kaito for going down to Chile and taking 1st in a 3*! Starting off the season right… during summer. South America is having an epic season and hopefully ours follows suit.
Para Team
From August 23–29, our Para Snowboard Team had the opportunity to join the U.S. Para Snowboard Team for a week of training at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey, where they have an indoor snow facility. Not exactly our traditional training venue, but hey… we’ll take snow wherever we can get it — especially in the middle of summer!
The athletes were able to get lap after lap after lap in, which ended up being awesome for getting lots of repetition and working on the little things. There’s something pretty cool about getting to snowboard in August, and the athletes definitely took advantage of every minute on snow.
And because we can’t train ALL the time, we also managed to have some fun while we were there! We played some pickleball, caught a Broadway show, and went to a Gotham FC soccer game. We were also treated to a really nice dinner by the parents of a potential new athlete at the mall — which was incredibly generous and such a fun night.
All in all, it turned out to be a great week. We got some much-needed turns, put in some good training, had a lot of laughs, and got to spend some quality time together as a team.
Development Team
The Dev team with Coach Anna is also seeing some growth and seems to be attracting some absolute shredders this year! We would like to invite our new athletes Enzo and Finley to the team.
Last year we were able to introduce some entry-level competition, and we look forward to doing even more. We are very excited to see what the younger kids bring to the table as we continue to grow the snowboard side of SBSEF.
