2024-2025 Freeride U19 Program Options and Tuition:

Full-Time Team: $5250 (up to 5 days/week)
3 Day Team: $4750
2 Day Team: $4250

* Must select days of the week/weekend in the Fall with Head Coach

Pass: Snowbird/Alta Team Seasons Pass w/Tram *team discount available in November: Snowbird $429, Alta $435 **prices subject to change
Woodward: 20% discount for a 3-month commitment
IFSA Competitors License: $105 *price subject to change
Competition Fees: Competition entrance fee, lift ticket at the host resort, and shared coach expenses for out of state events

Competitions & Events

**Note: these are 2023-24 comps, our website will be updated in the Fall when IFSA updates their calendar

SBSEF Freeride will attend specific events during the year, and coaches will sit down with each athlete pre-season to determine which competitions are best for each athlete. To adhere to IFSA’s path of advancement towards North American Championships and World events, athletes will compete in 2-3 Regional IFSA competitions, and 2-3 National IFSA competitions.

Based on season results, athletes may compete at the IFSA North American Championships and/or World Junior Championships.

Equipment Recommendations & Requirements

U19 athletes are required to have the following equipment:

Skis- U19 athletes should have a pair of freeride skis 85-95mm underfoot for firmer snow conditions and a second pair of powder skis 100-115mm underfoot. Recommended ski length is the athlete’s height +0-10cm.
Boots-Boots that are the appropriate size and flex are the most important piece of equipment. We recommend working with a boot fitter to ensure appropriate fit and flex.
Poles-Pole length should be approximately 65-70% of the athlete’s height. Poles with bigger powder baskets are recommended.

Rollerblades-Required to participate in Woodward indoor sessions
Clothing-
- Gloves/mittens
- Buff
- Wicking base layer
- Fleece mid-layer
- Down or synthetic puffy jacket for cold days.
- Waterproof/breathable outer layer with 20k waterproof/breathability rating is recommended
- Soft water bottle that will fit in a pocket (highly recommended)

2024-25 Freeride U19 Team

The U19 Freeride Team is our most elite program designed for high-level athletes who have the desire, motivation, and discipline to be successful in Freeride competition. Training is designed around the refinement of technical fundamentals along with the essential skills to maximize performance in competition. The athletes on this team will travel and compete in 4-5 IFSA events to earn points towards making it to the North American Junior Championships and Junior World Championships.

Training will include coaching in the following areas:

Refinement of fundamental technical skills and application to competitive Freeride
Decision making and risk management
Freeride competition strategy
Refinement of jumping skills and high-level freestyle maneuvers
Refinement of the mental skills required for high-level competition
Setting and achieving personal and competitive goals
Strength and conditioning to prevent injury and maximize athletic performance
Avalanche awareness and education

Athlete Age: 15-18 (2009, 2008, 2007, 2006 birth years)

Athlete Experience: Athletes can ski all types of terrain in all snow conditions proficiently and aggressively.

Athletes new to the program must participate in a tryout day in May to qualify to participate in the lottery for open spots. SBSEF holds the right to deny program access based on skill level.
