Freeride July Update
Dryland training kicks off for the U19 team on Monday, July 6th, with our first strength and conditioning session in the team gym. Dryland for our U15 team begins on Tuesday, July 7th, with a hike to Clayton Peak. Check PlayMetrics for the full dryland training schedules for each team.
There is a direct correlation between off-season preparation and in-season performance in both training and competition. During the summer months, Freeride athletes should prioritize their summer sports, but we highly encourage team dryland attendance as schedules allow. In addition to the performance and injury prevention benefits of sport-specific conditioning, dryland participation provides many team-building and team cohesion benefits.
We are excited to welcome Jeremy Mathers to the Freeride coaching staff. Jeremy is a former SBSEF Alpine athlete and U14 Alpine coach and will be bringing a strong technical skiing background to the team. Jeremy literally grew up at Alta and has been Freeride skiing in Little Cottonwood Canyon for as long as he’s been sliding on snow. Jeremy will be primarily working with our U19 team this season.
We’re looking forward to welcoming our new athletes and welcoming back our returning team members. We’re busy preparing for a great season and hope to see everyone at dryland training soon.
