Welcome to all of our new families, and welcome back to our returning athletes and families! The Alpine coaching staff has been busy planning and preparing for an incredible upcoming season.

Staffing Updates

Josh Transue: SBSEF is thrilled to welcome Josh Transue to the team. Josh joins us from Palisades, where he has been leading the Men’s FIS team. His extensive experience as both a coach and a former U.S. Ski Team athlete will be an incredible asset to our program.

Ben Throm: We are excited to announce that Ben Throm is transitioning from the FIS group to work with our U16 IMD Cup athletes. Ben will be an excellent addition to the U16 coaching staff and will provide a fantastic bridge between the U16 and FIS programs.

Justin Chardavoyne: Justin has stepped into our new Head Coach position for the first-year U14 group. He has already hit the ground running, having coached many of our athletes at Mt. Hood summer ski camp. Ben Reeder will continue as head coach for the 2nd year U14 group. Both Ben and Justin will be able to provide better programming for each group and their varying schedules.

Summer Dryland Training

Please check PlayMetrics frequently for updates. While the official Snowbird season does not kick off until September, every age group has training opportunities scheduled for this summer:

FIS & U16: Teams are currently busy with gym sessions, conditioning hikes, and field work.

U12 & U14: Athletes have a series of scheduled summer hikes designed to maintain fitness and offer a great opportunity to connect with new teammates and coaches.

Summer Camps

Mt Hood Update

SBSEF U10–U16 athletes recently wrapped up an incredible week of summer training in Mt. Hood at the Timberline Glacier (June 21–29). Despite losing two training days to unseasonal rain and snow at the resort, the team made the absolute most of their five days on snow. Summer skiing at Mt Hood aways provides a vital opportunity for skiers to refocus on fundamentals without the pressure of the competitive race season. A big focus of this camp was to reestablish fundamental technical skills needed for next winter. Athletes took advantage of excellent and consistent conditions to reestablish the mechanics around stance and balance, edging and pressure, and flexion and extension.. Beyond valuable time on the snow, the trip was a fantastic team-building experience as the team got to explore the greater area surrounding the Mt Hood national forest. We are looking forward to carrying this momentum into our upcoming dryland training.

Chile Training Camp Cancelled

Please note that our 2026 team trip to Chile has been cancelled. The Andes are currently experiencing an unusually warm winter with historic lows in snowfall. We will not be scheduling a replacement camp for this period.
