skimo nightsEven with the unseasonably warm and dry weather the Skimo team has two weeks of quality training. With many new athletes on the team this season the focus has been on developing skinning technique and transition skills, which will also help our experienced returning athletes become faster and more efficient. With the limited snow, terrain, and vertical available to us currently, we have spent a lot of time working on flat gliding, kick turn, and transition drills. We’re still waiting on the final call on the first Utah Skimo event scheduled for Solitude on December 16th. Hopefully our athletes will be able to test their new and improved skills in a race environment at Solitude next week!

The ISMF Skimo World Cup and Olympic qualifier event took place at Solitude on December 6th and 7th. There was a lot of action in both the mixed relay and sprint races with several outstanding performances from American athletes. Cam Smith and Anna Gibson secured a spot for the United States in the 2026 Olympics with their win in the mixed relay race. Several SBSEF athletes were able to make it up to Solitude to watch the action. It’s not every day that we have a World Cup race in our backyard!
