April Freeride Update
Our competition season concluded with the Junior Freeride Championships at Kirkwood on April 6th-13th. It was a great week of competition with mostly great corn skiing and comfortable spring conditions for both athletes and spectators.
Crew W and Banks A competed in the U12 division and qualified for finals. Crew placed 9th, and Banks placed 10th in a highly competitive field. Great job, guys!
In the U15 division, Seda M qualified for the championship event with an incredibly consistent season. She carried that consistency into the competition at Kirkwood, placing first by an entire point in her qualifying run. Seda’s consistency continued into finals with solid technical skiing, carrying her to a WIN in the U15 division. Additionally, Seda placed 5th for the season in the U15 division. Incredible for her first winter of Freeride competition.
In the U19 division, Ellie R, Brynn C, Brooke C, Thomas M, Jack R, AJ M, and Gavin M all qualified for the championship event in fields of 60 of the best male athletes and 40 of the best female athletes from the US, Canada, and South America. The level of competition was incredibly high, and all of our athletes showed great skiing in both the qualifying and final runs.
U19 championship result highlights:
- Ellie R 11th
- Brynn C 12th
- Jack R 19th
