Dear SBSEF Athletes & Families,

The season never really ends for our athletes and coaches; SBSEF has year-round training going on in different capacities.  But it is time to officially kick off our 2026-27 season with registration.

Each year, our community comes together around a shared passion for skiing, snowboarding, mountain adventure, and the pursuit of personal excellence. We are grateful that you have chosen to be part of our team.

For more than five decades, SBSEF has been dedicated to developing athletes both on and off the mountain. While athletic achievement remains an important part of our mission, our true purpose is helping young people build the character, confidence, resilience, and leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Through expert coaching, meaningful competition, and a supportive community, we strive to create an environment where every athlete can grow, challenge themselves, and discover their full potential.

As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 season, we remain committed to providing a safe, positive, and athlete-centered experience across all of our programs. Our coaching staff continues to raise the standard of excellence in athlete development, while our families, volunteers, donors, and community partners help make these opportunities possible.

We encourage you to review program information carefully during the registration process and reach out to our staff with any questions. We are here to help.

Thank you for your continued trust and support of SBSEF. We are honored to be part of your athlete’s journey and look forward to another incredible season of learning, growth, friendship, and achievement.

See you soon!

Work Hard. Dream Big.

Best,
Bridger Call

Welcome Josh Transue!

The SBSEF Alpine Program is excited to announce that we have a new member of our staff.  Josh Transue will join SBSEF and Head our FIS Team.  Josh brings tremendous knowledge and experience and has been a fixture in the Western region for many years.

Josh will be joined by returning SBSEF Coaches Ben Throm and Kevin Chaffee with our oldest Alpine racers.  Please join us in welcoming Josh to SBSEF and LCC!

Josh began skiing about the time he could walk as the son of a snowmaker in Hunter, NY, and has been dedicated to the sport as an athlete, coach, and parent ever since.

After attending the Green Mountain Valley School, Josh competed as a member of the US Ski Team as one of the top young 4-event skiers with two appearances at the Junior World Championships, 2-time North American Junior Champion in SL, and podiums in all 4 events at the Nor-Am Cup.

His passion for both Tech events and Speed as an athlete has influenced the way Josh approaches athlete development as a coach, and his commitment to helping every athlete achieve their individual potential by developing a variety of skills.

Josh began coaching back east at Hunter Mountain before returning to GMVS to coach soccer, lacrosse, and theater, and to work with athletes from U14 to FIS.  After relocating to Tahoe in 2009, Josh has spent time coaching both genders as a U14 coach at Northstar, Head Men’s FIS at Sugarbowl, and most recently as Head Men’s Coach at Palisades Tahoe.

In addition to Skiing, Josh loves to spend time with his wife and two daughters, reading books, jazz, and holds the title of Grandmaster in the ancient art of Karaoke…
