The U15 team has been focused on maintaining quality training and continuing the goal of building strong all-around skiers and athletes through the busy competition season. Our athletes have been hard at work developing their technique, strength and conditioning, competition strategy, and jumping, along with gaining valuable competition experience.
This is the first year we have offered U15 strength training during the winter, and the program has been a success so far, with 10-12 athletes consistently attending the Thursday afternoon workouts. We hope to build good habits and routines that will lead to reduced injuries and increased performance.

Freeride U19:
With the continuation of the low snow conditions, the U19 Freeride team has been focusing on skiing lines that test our mental strength. A small group of athletes and coaches hiked out the gates of Gad 2 to the shoulder of Red Top Mountain, where we found some halfway decent snow with a bit of exposure.
We’ve also been testing our mental skills with visual-only inspections at our home mountain on runs including East Castle at Alt, and the Bookends at Snowbird. While still making time for fundamental drills.
We had a very successful weekend at Solitude for the junior regional two-star event with Ruby C taking first place, Kate W taking second place, Sebastian F in third place, and Charlie W in fourth place. The team also returned from Jackson Hole. While U19 didn’t bring home any medals, the team learned a lot about why we love skiing; exploring new terrain, and making new connections and friendships with the other teams out there.
Training continues at Woodward with the majority of the snow being man-made. Amazingly, we have such pristine jumps to hone our air awareness on.
Coming up, we will be traveling to Telluride, Colorado for the three-star national event. As well as holding it down at home for the three star national event at Snowbird, good luck to our athletes and coaches in these travels.
