Most Skimo athletes have been busy with training and racing in their fall sports, including mountain bike racing and cross-country running, but have found time between training to attend team hikes and dryland sessions. We are big supporters of cross-training and participating in other sports during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Cross-training will help athletes begin the season strong and help prevent injuries and burnout.

In exciting Skimo news, the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) Skimo World Cup is coming to our backyard! The Salt Lake City Skimo World Cup will take place at Solitude Mountain Resort December 6-7, 2025. This is the first time that an ISMF World Cup event has been held in North America. The event will feature Sprint and Mixed Relay races, and over 200 athletes from 28 nations are expected to compete. The Solitide World Cup event is the first stop in an eight-event tour for the 2025-2026 season and is the final qualification opportunity for athletes ahead of Ski Mountaineering’s Olympic debut at Milano-Cortina 2026. Subsequent World Cup events will be held in France, Andorra, Spain, Azerbaijan, Italy, and Switzerland, and will include longer-distance disciplines, such as the Individual, Vertical, and Teams races.
