December Snowboard Update 2024
Para Snowboard Team
The Para Euro Cup and World Cup of the competition season. Spending a few days before the competition in Austria, Coach Seth and the 4 athletes (Jackie, Kate, Aleks, and Steven) got their riding legs warmed up with laps at Hintertux. And although the snow conditions were not always ideal, they were lucky enough to get a few good powder runs in before heading to Landgraaf. Their time training at Hintertux paid off with a strong start heading into the competition series—one athlete placing 4th and another securing 5th, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.
Para Snowboard Team recently kicked off the season heading to Landgraaf, Netherlands over the end of November for the first Banked Slalom
Back at Snowbird, training kicked off the beginning of December—
all the athletes arriving back to Utah for the winter. This last weekend, our athletes were stoked to get some Early Morning Gate Training in, witnessing some pretty amazing sunrises, proving it’s worth waking up at the crack of dawn.
Meanwhile, a couple of athletes took advantage of the week by heading to Ski Spec in Colorado to support the Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Community. Overall, the Para team is off to a good start for the season. The vibes and stoke are high!
SBSEF Snowboard Coach
Young Riders Crew
It has been really fun getting to know a few new athletes and continuing to work with some old ones. The kids seem to be bouncing off each other and pushing each other to get better! We currently have four athletes on the team. We are pushing to grow those numbers and expand the program. I think I see 360s, cliffs, and euro carves in the future!!
SBSEF Snowboard Coach
Big Mountain Snowboard Team
Gage Lemaster showed up this season ready to improve, already getting days in before practice had even resumed. He has been spending his free time on the hill, drilling and practicing his technique based on the feedback he received after last season. Aside from technical development, Freestyle is the focus and Gage is stoked to push past 360’s in this season’s National IFSA Competitions.

Snowboard Athlete Spotlight:
Aleks Godowski
Aleks started training with SBSEF last winter and has brought his stoke for snowboarding with him. He has been a great addition to the team and brings a certain enthusiasm. Before coming to SBSEF, he spent some time in Colorado riding and training but was in search of some effective coaching to advance his skills. Connecting with Lane while training in Finland, he decided to make the move full-time to Utah. Throughout last season, his dedication and love for the sport paid off. A strong rider before, he began to hone in his skills and climb up the ladder in his results. There has been some strong progression happening for him! This last month in Landgraaf, he placed 4th place both days in the Para Banked Slalom Euro Cup, kicking off a good start to the season. The team has loved having Aleks on the team and the camaraderie he adds to the already awesome dynamic. He shows up to practice every day ready and stoked to get out there and progress.
