Skimo Team
Skimo or Ski Mountaineering combines the endurance of sports like mountain biking and running with the technical downhill skills of Alpine and Freeride. Skimo is a great cross-training sport for Freeride and Alpine skiers as well as mountain bikers and runners. The best Skimo athletes have excellent fitness combined with strong technical downhill skills. During training sessions, we will focus on the fundamentals of Skimo racing and efficient backcountry skiing techniques as well as building fitness and endurance.
Skimo will be making its Olympic debut at the 2026 Winter Games!
Program Requirements:
- Ability to ski confidently on black ungroomed terrain
- Enjoy endurance sports
- Interest or experience in sports such as mountain biking, cross-country running, or nordic skiing is helpful, but not required.
Athlete Age: 12-18 (11 possibly okay with coach approval)
Program includes:
- Training sessions 1X/week, early December-March.
- Fall dryland training early September-early November.
- Utah Skimo membership.
- Gear discounts at Skimo Co.
