February Freeride Update 2025
Connecting preparation to performance and the growth mindset required to adequately train and prepare has been a big focus for the freeride program this season. In any sport, being properly prepared includes more than just the time on the field, course or snow. Strength and conditioning, mobility, nutrition, rest/recovery, mental health, and technique all play key roles. At the midpoint of the season is a great time to reflect on the preparations that we have made. Did our training throughout the summer, fall and early season set us up to meet our skiing goals and be successful in competition? What did we miss that may be preventing us from achieving our goals and reaching our full potential? What can we do for the remainder of this season to fill in any gaps? How can we better prepare for next season? These are all questions that every athlete should be asking themselves.
Now that we are in the heart of competition season it’s great to see the results that were made possible by our preparation and training. We have seen many great results and performances so far, and we still have a lot of training and competition remaining. I’m looking forward to even more great skiing from our athletes moving forward.

February Athlete Spotlight: Bryce F
Bryce takes the spotlight this month with his positive attitude and coachable mindset. Bryce has learned new tricks during our trampoline training sessions at Woodward, and has learned about freeriding our home mountain, as well as the knowledge and skills it takes to bring to the competition setting. Where at Snowbasin, even though the event was canceled due to fog, Bryce skied fast, and strong, and would have been in the runnings for a podium finish. Keep it up Bryce!
U19 Freeride Update
The U19 Freeride team has been busy traveling and competing at national and regional events. With 15 podium finishes, the hard work that these athletes have put in at our home mountain, and team gym are proving to be worthwhile. We have five more National events, and two more Regional events to attend this season before the Junior Freeride Championship. In the meantime, between making powder turns, coaches are evaluating athletes on their progress this season, and focusing on preparing for the upcoming events.

U12 Freeride Update
The Freeride U12 team started competition season off on a high note with many podium results at the Snowbird 2* Vol 1 and Vol 2 competitions on January 25th and 26th.

At the Snowbasin 2* Vol 1 and Vol 2 competitions, our girls made a strong showing with SBSEF athletes on the top of the podium on both days. The SBSEF girls were challenged with a deeper field at Snowbasin than many U12 competitions with 8 athletes in Vol 1 and 11 athletes in Vol 2. Jfast athlete Tate A won her first ever freeride competition at Snowbasin. Congratulations Tate! It’s been great to continue our collaboration with Jfast beyond fall dryland and we are looking forward to having Jfast athletes Jett F and Benny A participate in the 2* freeride competition at Solitude in March.
Notable results at Snowbasin include:
Vol 1 girls: Lucy P 1st
