Dryland training began the first week of September for all age groups with afternoon training 3 days a week. Participation in dryland is strongly encouraged for those athletes who are not currently playing another sport. There is a direct correlation between fitness/strength and performance in skiing as well as a significant injury prevention benefit. The work that athletes put in now during dryland will pay huge dividends later in training and competition.

The U19 group has been taking advantage of the new team gym facility in addition to one outdoor workout each week. The U12 and U15 groups are doing a combination of hiking, mountain biking, gym training, and field workouts. Check Team Snap for the specific schedules for each age group.

We are excited to add inline skate training to dryland for the U12 and U15 groups starting September 19th. Inline skating uses similar skills to skiing and has a significant cross-training benefit. We are looking forward to seeing the results this season and to continuing to develop inline skate training in the future.

For the second year, we will be offering Skills Quest Fitness testing to Freeride athletes. The testing is scheduled for November 1st at Churchill Jr High.  Participating in the testing is a great opportunity to identify areas of weakness in addition to tracking long-term changes in performance. Participating in fitness testing is strongly encouraged.

Registration is open for Canyonlands Dryland Camp. The camp is scheduled for October 24th-27th. The camp is a fun weekend of camping, hiking, and team building in Canyonlands National Park. Registration is limited to the first 50 people. We would love to see more Freeride athletes attend. Click HERE for more information and to sign up.
