October 2025 Team Update
Greetings SBSEF,
In the month of October things have really ramped up. On snow in Italy, in the snow in Idaho, team meetings, and dryland nearly every day. Not to mention the weather, what a difference a couple of weeks makes! We have already broken a 44-year-old precipitation record for October, and may be headed for the record. After a very dry summer, it is fantastic to get the water, and hopefully a signal of things to come.
2026 is an Olympic and Paralympic year, and the excitement is building. SBSEF alumni and current athletes are vying for spots on the team, so the lead-up to the games will be intense and dramatic. It is going to be an exciting winter!
We have about 5 weeks to go in terms of pre-season conditioning and prep, then conditioning turns into maintenance. This is the time of year to focus on mobility and strength in anticipation of getting on snow. The work put in during the preseason echoes throughout the competition period.
The SBSEF Gala, presented by Kuhl, is our biggest annual fundraiser, it supports scholarships and subsidizes program fees. Please check it out and get involved if you can, either in person or online. Hope to see you there!

Our Gala is fast approaching! Join us on November 8 at 5pm in the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird. SBSEF relies on this special event and the generosity of our community to keep tuition costs low, fund financial aid, and ensure the highest coach development. Don’t miss out on this fun evening of dinner, live music, open bar, auctions and community. Buy tickets here and make a weekend of it with our low Cliff lodge group rate, starting at $169.
Swap recap:
The swap raised over 29K! These funds support our financial aid program and help keep the cost of participation down. Other fun swap numbers: 584 used items were sold, our vendors Top Dog and Barries sold 1,172 items, we wrote checks totaling $22,274 to those who sold used gear at our swap, and over 150 families attended our team only night on Friday! This is a fun, community event and allows our team families to get gear at a discounted price. We hope to see you next year!

For the first time in many years, SBSEF returned to City of Rocks for our Fall dryland camp. The scenery was incredible in this remote mountain landscape! The trip started with an afternoon hike of around 6 miles to Bath Rock, followed by a taco dinner and fun around the campfire. Saturday we began with perfect weather and a long hike, 13 & 19 miles respectively around the City. We knew the weather was due to change, and in the early afternoon it did! By the time we got back to camp, it was winter. High winds and snow made for very cold conditions, and ultimately we decided to head back that evening rather than spend the night in a blizzard. It rained hard the entire drive back! The scenery was amazing, and the troops put in a solid effort on what was a shortened but memorable trip. City of Rocks we will be back…
SBSEF is hosting a Kelly Brush ride on October 26th at Antelope Island State Park. We will meet at 10 am at the parking lot at the east end of the causeway. The ride will be an out-and-back across the causeway to the Fielding Garr Ranch. The total distance is 36 miles, and participants are welcome to turn around earlier for a shorter ride. The Kelly Brush Foundation supports SBSEF through grants, and donating/participating in the ride is a great way to say thanks and give back. Click HERE to donate and register for the ride.
