Lane Clegg

Head Snowboard Coach

Lane grew up skiing and snowboarding in the Cottonwood canyons and has been coaching/teaching snowboarding at Snowbird for 35 years. He taught skiing and snowboarding and directed the snowboard program for 17 years. He then started coaching with SBSEF where he has been ever since, coaching several athletes who went on to see success on the US Team and the Olympics.

Lane has been very active in the coach/instructor community. He was selected to the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) National Team in 1996 for a 4-year term and then returned as the coach for that team from 2008 through 2016. He serves as a trainer and examiner for both instructors and coaches within AASI, USSA, and USASA and is currently the Intermountain representative for USSA Snowboardcross.

In addition to coaching able-bodied athletes, Lane has been active in the adaptive snowboard community, coaching athletes to the Paralympics and receiving the USSA Adaptive Coach of the Year award in 2019. He has an immense passion for snowboarding and is happiest when he is sharing it with others. He has a unique way of understanding each athlete's goals and is able to motivate them to push their riding to their limits while utilizing Snowbird's challenging terrain. He's the first one on the hill and the last one to leave and wouldn't have it any other way.

Lane has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology – Sports Emphasis from the University of Utah.
