U15 Freeride Team:

It’s been a month of nonstop competition for the U15 team with 6 different events in the past 4 weeks. Training is key to consistent competitive performance, and our U15 athletes have been showing up and working hard all season, both on the hill at Alta, Snowbird, and Woodward, and in the gym with strength/mobility training. Beyond the results, we have been impressed with the level of teamwork and camaraderie that our athletes have shown. Below are some highlights from the past month of competition.

Junior Freeride Championships

This year, the Junior Freeride Championships will be held April 4th-8th at Kicking Horse Resort in Golden, BC. Invites will be going out to the top 45-ranked U15 girls and top 60-ranked U15 boys in North and South America on March 17th. We expect 6-8 of our U15 athletes to qualify for the Championship Event, which is a significant increase from previous seasons. We will announce our championship team as soon as the qualification process is complete.

Intermountain Regional Championships

This is a new event designed to give athletes who don’t qualify for the Junior Freeride Championships an end-of-season championship experience. The event will be a 2-run format and will be held March 20th-22nd at Solitude. We will have approximately 15-20 of our U15 athletes competing in the inaugural Intermountain Freeride Regional Championship event.

Team Awards

Mark your calendars for our Freeride team awards on April 16th. This year, the awards will be held on the Tram Deck at Snowbird. We hope to see all of our athletes and parents there.

U19 Freeride Team:

The Wasatch finally received some much-needed snow! The storm helped fill in some of the bigger lines we love to ski and set the team up for an amazing week of freeride training and competition skiing at the Bird. The entire team gave it their all, whether they landed their run, crashed while pushing their limits, or simply didn’t get the result they were hoping for. Great skiing was on display, and the spirit of Freeride was evident both in and out of the start gate.
