Greetings SBSEF,

Let’s face it, we are having a historically lean year in terms of snowfall.  BUT, there is plenty to be happy about!  The skiing at Snowbird is quite good despite the scarcity of powder days.  It also appears that we are finally going to get a change in the forecast, and potentially a bunch of snow in the next week.

For the race teams, we have had some of the best mid-winter training conditions ever.  And for the Freeride team, the silver lining of increased emphasis on technical skiing and fundamentals pays huge dividends in the long run.

We have hosted two race series and an IFSA comp at Snowbird thus far; they have been great, and the community has rallied around our athletes.   I don’t mind saying that we do a great job when it comes to hosting events, and everyone likes to come here to compete.  I really enjoy the feeling of camaraderie and community that comes with the events.  THANK YOU for being a part of it!

We have athletes competing and succeeding at all levels.  Alumni are racing in the Olympics in Italy, and a strong contingent will be competing in the upcoming Paralympic Games.

SBSEF Snowboarder (and 2025 Gala speaker) Kate Delson just won the Para World Cup Overall Crystal Globe!  This is the greatest annual feat an athlete can accomplish.  Congrats Kate! And good luck in Milan.kate is great

Watching the Olympics and Paralympics is inspiring and gives us a glimpse of 2034, when the games return to the Wasatch.  It’s not just the medals, it’s the shared purpose, the unity, and the belief that anything is possible.

Work Hard. Dream Big.

Best,

Community Column:

Devo parents hosted a successful and delicious BBQ for athletes and parents at the Cookie Cup races the last weekend of January!  This is following a meet and greet for the new Devo parents the first weekend of January.  JFast parents will be serving up hot meals during the South Series races on February 9 and 10 for athletes, volunteers staff and parents and Freeride parents will be serving meals to staff and coaches during multiple big mountain events at Snowbird the month of February.  We are very grateful to all our parents for the support they provide to coaches and volunteers at all Snowbird hosted events!  It makes our team community strong.

Lost and Found:  missing a lunch box?  A stray mitten or glove?  Water bottle?  There is a Lost and Found box located under the stairs outside the BATC.  Check it out for missing items.
