Greetings SBSEF,

It is nice to be skiing at Snowbird and Alta! The winter has not started the way that we would have hoped. To start December with little snowfall isn’t particularly unusual, but more notable has been the lack of cold temps which has made snowmaking difficult to impossible. The snow will come, and the temps look to improve next week, still it is going to take some time to get the entire mountain open.

We have athletes already competing all over the world. Gala speaker Kate Delson won a Para World Cup banked slalom in Landgraaf, Netherlands in November!

And Friday was a historic day on the White Circus, where Lindsay Vonn, fresh out of retirement, won a World Cup Downhill in St.Moritz, Switzerland. She led the way on a day when 7 Americans finished in the top 30, and SBSEF Alum Bella Wright finished 16th! CLICK HERE to see her run!

On the local front we have athletes making their way to Big Sky for the first FIS race of the season in the Western Region. Over the course of the next few weeks all our athletes will begin the competition season with races in Jackson, Wyoming, and right here at Snowbird in January. (See below for volunteer opportunities). The IFSA season also kicks off in January, and comes to Silver Fox later in the month.

In the meantime we will gather for Holiday Camp beginning the weekend of the 20th. We will do what we always do, and make the most of the opportunities that we get, and build toward a great season! See you soon.

Holiday Camp Breakfast December 30 for all teams training that day, Alpine and Freeride! Look for volunteer signups for helpers or to bring food coming from your team parent coordinators soon. This is a fun community event for athletes, parents, coaches and Snowbird resort personnel.
