Alpine August Update
We are excited to welcome (back) Chloe Lavelle as our new U10 Jfast Head Coach!
I grew up skiing all around the Pacific Northwest. I started skiing when I was 2, and my ski
racing career when I was 7 at 49 degrees north in Washington, then moved to Schweitzer
Mountain where I continued racing through high school. I have been coaching for 6 years,
and 4 of those years I had the pleasure of being the head youth ski league coach for
Schweitzer Alpine Racing School! I moved to SLC last April, and this will be my second year with SBSEF!
I love all things outdoors and I am excited to explore some new mountains!
Alpine Dryland Update:
Fall is a busy time for families, with school and sports schedules filling up fast. Many of you have athletes who play soccer, lacrosse, or mountain bike, and we know that’s a huge commitment.
As you plan your schedules for the next few weeks, please remember to factor in some time with your alpine ski group. Athletes who are physically active in other sports will definitely come into the winter season in great shape. However, dedicating time to ski-specific training helps develop key movements and strengthen the exact muscles needed to improve performance and prevent injuries on the mountain.
If your athlete has a clear fall schedule, we look forward to seeing them at dryland training. If they have other sports commitments, we understand and look forward to seeing them when their schedules allow.
All SBSEF Alpine teams should have their detailed fall schedules and expectations posted on TeamSnap. If you’re not sure when your athlete’s dryland training is, please check TeamSnap for the most up-to-date information.

Camp Updates:
- Fall Dryland Camp @ City of Rocks!October 10-12, 2025
- The SBSEF Alpine team is headed to Stelvio, Italy! This camp is designed to offer athletes an early season snow training opportunity on moderate terrain, focusing on technical development for the 25-26 season. Athletes will engage in ten days of training on suitable snow conditions, fostering skill enhancement and progress. The camp facilitates interaction and knowledge
exchange among aspiring athletes while creating a collaborative environment. Additionally, athletes will have the opportunity to observe and learn from high level European FIS athletes. This experience in Stelvio aims to develop physical skills and inspire athletes for the upcoming season.
SBSEF fall training camps in Colorado and Montana are officially on the calendar for all alpine groups. This is a critical time for any athlete who wants to get a jump on the competition, especially those with races scheduled in December and early January.
Here’s where we’re going:
- Older Athletes (FIS & U16): These groups will be collaborating at our preseason camps in Montana.
- Younger Athletes (U14 & U12): They’ll be sharpening their skills in Aspen right before Thanksgiving. Aspen Highlands has a proven track record as an excellent venue for perfecting technical freeskiing and gate training. This year, there’s an incredible bonus: the World Cup Technical events are being held at Copper Mountain. Our athletes will get the opportunity to see some of the world’s top skiers train right next to them!
Expect trip sheets for these camps in September
- Aspen (U14-U12): On snow Nov 19-25
