Ski for T Award

Tanner Baran was a gifted freeride and park skier whose life was defined by curiosity, kindness, and a deep love for the mountains. A lifelong outdoorsman, Tanner moved through the world with an unmistakable joy—most evident in his immense smile and the ease with which he shared his passion for skiing with others.

At the time of his passing on November 13, 2025, at age 21, Tanner was a full-time student at the University of Utah, studying business with a minor in German, while also dedicating himself to the sport and community he loved. As a skier and development team coach at Woodward Park City (WWPC), he believed deeply in access—championing the idea that every young athlete deserves the opportunity to pursue their passion, regardless of financial circumstance. His work with the WWPC programs reflected this belief, as he supported developing athletes with encouragement, humility, and genuine care.

The Ski for T Award was established to honor Tanner’s legacy by supporting an SBSEF freeride team member each year—someone who embodies Tanner’s love for freeride skiing, commitment to progression, and respect for the mountain community. Through this scholarship, Tanner’s spirit lives on: inspiring the next generation to ski with dedication and joy.

The mountains were Tanner’s heaven on earth, and it is there—in motion and in shared experience—that his light continues to shine.
