I grew up in the City o Salt. My mom started skiing Alta in the 1940s, so she dragged her gaggle of kids up Lil Cot early on. Mostly, I followed big bro around as he worked at Alta, skiing the deep stuff, chasing gates on their race hill, and raced independently at races in the Wasatch. After high school, I was an instructor/coach at Alta for 8 years while studying at the University of Utah. During this time I became a certified instructor with PSIA, earned my USSA coach certification, and had the opportunity to be in powder clinics with Alf Engen. Alf's love of skiing and for his students was infectious. After that, I lived on the east coast and then on the west coast, but my heart is in the mountain west. This is my 8th year coaching for SBSEF and I've loved it. I appreciate SBSEF's culture of the love of skiing, commitment to each and every athlete's development, and working with young and enthusiastic shredders.
