See you on the hill!

Note from the Executive Director:
We are doing our best to navigate the pandemic and provide effective and safe programming for our athletes in an ever-changing landscape. We have been able to conduct dryland training over the summer for our older Alpine athletes without any problems. We also had the largest turnout for Hood Camp in SBSEF history and the camp was very successful. We are very happy that these things have gone well! Similarly, we are preparing for camp at Aspen in the Fall, and are organizing details on that camp, the dates haven't changed.
As of now, we have not deviated from the posted and historical (website) schedules. I/we recognize that we may be forced to change our plans and schedules, but we cannot say exactly what those changes maybe until we have a little more information to go off. It is an ongoing conversation, and there are still a variety of possible outcomes.
We continue to develop a protocol for dryland and on-snow training (as well as all the tangential activities/services) in anticipation of team activities ramping up. If the schools end up all online or otherwise change their schedules, it will likely impact our schedules as well. Similarly, we are awaiting word from FIS/US Ski & Snowboard and IFSA in terms of competition protocol/guidelines. And, we are not sure what restrictions we may face in terms of ski resort (mainly Snowbird) operations. Snowbird continues to be extremely supportive of SBSEF and will work with us to provide the best possible opportunities for our athletes.
We are actively engaged in planning for the season despite the fact that there are many variables. We definitely appreciate the difficulty this places on all our athletes/families in terms of planning, not to mention the stress. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and remain optimistic that we will have a great season!

Mt Hood Update:
Our Alpine Comp teams had a fantastic camp at Timberline earlier this month. We had a record 31 teammates on the Palmer Snow Field training next to the US Ski Team with amazing weather and good snow. Safety procedures were in place to keep all athletes safe both on snow and during dryland activities. Thank you to Kevin, Will, Fritz, Bo and Destry for the long days coaching on the mountain!
Our team utilized Sprongo for video analysis, and we tested TeamSnap for communications. We are looking into many ways to make positive changes to keep everyone informed and safely distanced.
