Golden Wings!

Along with Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, Snowbird Sports Education Foundation (SBSEF) is also celebrating our 50th year of operation during the 2021-22 season.  On this, our Golden Anniversary, we ask for your support to help this organization as we embark on the next 50 years for this storied team.

The Snowbird Ski Team started in 1971 and became a 501c3 non-profit foundation in 1978. What was once just the "Snowbird Ski Team" has now expanded into a competition and training program for three winter sports programs; Alpine Racing, Freeride, and Snowboard.  With 300 athletes and 60 staff members, SBSEF has a colorful history and a rich tradition of developing athletes in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

SBSEF has represented success and accomplishment for 50 years. Thousands of youth athletes have flourished in our programs. Our athletes have trained and competed across the globe, and have represented the United States of America at every level, including Olympic and World Championships in Alpine, Freeride, Snowboard, and Adaptive competition.

What separates SBSEF from other programs is our world-class training, unparalleled terrain, and our commitment to making athletes successful both on and off the mountain.  Every year we see outstanding academic scholarship and strong character on full display.  We are an athletically focused organization, but we do so much more than just compete; we help young people see their full potential.

The SBSEF relies heavily on outside contributions for the support it provides our athletes and programs.  Along with our operating costs, SBSEF has an ambitious scholarship system to assist those with financial needs.

With the support of Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort & Alta Mountain Resort, we have a home (the best home) to train and race at a reduced cost to the team members.

With your continued support, we can provide this powerful programming to our athletes, further develop our resources and make the next 50 years all they can be.

SBSEF Spring Renewal Fundraising Drive (Matching Grant!)

Dear SBSEF Friends, Families, Members, and Supporters,

We made it!  The 2020-21 season is one we will never forget…I am filled with gratitude and a sense of unity as we can say that not only have we had a season, we have had a very successful one!  Our athletes have been doing what they love, and SBSEF has been able to continue to fulfill its mission:

"We strive to foster a passion and lifelong love of winter sports and an active outdoor lifestyle while developing the life skills associated with success in all endeavors: goal setting, self-discipline, a strong work ethic, determination, and commitment."

Despite uncertainty and unknowns on a scale, we have never seen before SBSEF/AltaBird athletes and coaches with the help of all our sponsors, supporters, and family members, pulled together to make it happen.  We all made sacrifices, we learned a lot, we took care of each other, and the athletes thrived.  We saw tremendous development, camaraderie, and strong competitive results throughout.  SBSEF athletes continue to shine on the biggest stages in the world, including the World Cup and World Freeride Tour.

The Covid19 pandemic has changed our world dramatically, including financially for many.  We recognize that this season has been more difficult for our athletes and member families in significant ways.  We recognize the cost and sacrifice that it demands.  Similarly SBSEF lost revenue streams this season due to the pandemic and as we plan for next season we have certain gaps to fill.  Radios, Bnet, vehicles, and other equipment that needs replacement.  Operational expenses and scholarship funds need to be replenished.

The SBSEF Board of Directors along with supporters have come together to offer a 10K matching grant to any funds we can raise during the Spring Renewal Drive.  This unity and generosity is indicative of the community surrounding this organization, and inspires our Spring Renewal Drive, in what we hope marks a subsiding pandemic and a return to togetherness.  Please join us! CLICK LINK HERE to donate.

Dream Big, Work Hard!

Best,
